What are NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal contact lenses?
NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal 1 Day is a daily disposable, soft multifocal contact lens manufactured by Visioneering Technologies (VTI). They are intended for the correction of presbyopia (age-related loss of the ability to focus on nearby objects) and controlling the progressive worsening of near-sightedness (myopia).
At the core of its design is Neurofocus Optics technology, which delivers a wide range of clear vision and effectively reduces the risk of excessive eye growth and worsening of myopia. It is FDA indicated in the US for the correction of myopia, and CE marked in Europe for both the correction of myopia and for myopia progression control.
For medical devices like contact lenses, the CE mark certifies that the lenses have been found to be safe and effective for myopia control, and is approved to be sold and used anywhere in the European market.
How do NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal contact lenses work?
Standard single vision contact lenses work in a simple but limited way – they correct blurred distance vision effectively; however, they do not help to slow the progression of myopia, nor can they maintain clarity at different viewing ranges.
To achieve crisp vision at all distances and help take control of progressing myopia, NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal 1 Day contact lenses use unique and patented optics known as Neurofocus Optics technology. In this design, the centre of the lens provides clear distance vision. From the centre of the lens, there is a rapid, continuous transition in lens power leading outward towards the lens periphery.

Neurofocus Optics technology therefore leads to two important effects.
Firstly, the increased power in the lens periphery sends a signal to the eye to reduce excessive growth, which helps to control the main process that causes worsening myopia. Secondly, the design creates a 'pinhole effect', resulting in an extended depth of focus – meaning a wide range of clear vision.
Even children with astigmatism can benefit, as the lens can correct up to 2.00 D of astigmatism.

What are the features of the NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal lens?
NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal 1 Day brings in two new comfort innovations that improve upon the original NaturalVue Multifocal 1 Day lens – the TripleTear Lubrication System and the Ultra-Tapered Edge.
The TripleTear Lubrication System adds three lubricating agents, including hyaluronic acid, to lock the moisture within the lenses. This system maintains a smooth and moist lens surface for enhanced wearing comfort, from morning to night. An Ultra-Tapered Edge design minimizes any contact between the lens and the eyelid during blinking, and helps to circulate the tears.
In addition, NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal 1 Day lenses are available in an extended prescription range up to -12.25 D, making it possible for children with high levels of myopia to be fitted in the lens.
As daily disposable contact lenses, NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal 1 Day is safe and practical for children. A fresh pair is worn each day, helping to maintain consistent vision and comfort. Daily replacement removes the need for cleaning or storage, supports good hygiene, and reduces the risk of contact lens related infection.
Should my child wear NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal contact lenses or glasses?
Children with myopia need either contact lenses or glasses (spectacles) to correct blurred distance vision. Both options can also help slow myopia progression through specially designed lenses.
Deciding between NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal 1 Day contact lenses and glasses often comes down to lifestyle, comfort, and personal preference. Some children even alternate between the two on different days, depending on their activities.
NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal 1 Day lenses give children freedom from glasses, as 92% of daily activities can be completed without using glasses.
The availability of myopia control treatments for children can vary by country. Contact lenses can be a great option for kids of all ages, even if it’s something you haven’t considered before. Ask your child’s optometrist or eye doctor whether a trial run is available.
Besides soft contact lenses, other effective options for myopia management include myopia control glasses, orthokeratology lenses, atropine eye drops, and light therapies.
Do NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal contact lenses really slow myopia?
Over the years, NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal 1 Day contact lenses have been proven to work well against myopia in both a controlled clinical setting and in real-world settings.
Much of the data has originated from real-world cases, such as an analysis of 196 children and young adults across 15 practices in the US, who had worn NaturalVue Multifocal lenses for up to 6 years.
Highlighted below are some key facts about the effectiveness of NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal 1 Day lenses.
- NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal lenses slow myopia progression by at least a half over 1 year.
7 - NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal lenses slow eye growth by at least a half over 1 year.
7 - Kids and teens were instructed to wear the lenses for at least 10 hours per day, 6 days per week. In reality, they wore their lenses about 11-12 hours per day, 7 days per week – illustrating how comfortable and easy they are to wear.
Is the vision in NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal contact lenses as good as regular contact lenses?
Due to the Neurofocus Optics design, NaturalVue Enhanced Multifocal 1 Day contact lenses offer excellent vision and good depth of focus at all distances, with little compromise.
NaturalVue Multifocal contact lenses have been shown to provide a quality of vision and depth perception to glasses with up-to-date prescription.
